Ben Gurepko
From straight out the womb, I was meant to be an artist. Having meant to have been triplets with the other two not making it, with one fusing into my ear causing me a handicap, I have always felt the desire to live for three. I strive for greatness and put forth that effort into my design and creativity. My brain is constantly paced at the speed of three minds putting together exciting and eccentric ideas. I very much started drawing on my walls, but my mother never punished me as she herself had a knack for painting. While buying me supplies to create off the drywall she would paint my favorite characters in my room among a ceiling of clouds I could get lost in. As soon as I could use a computer, I was finding programs that I could use for different tasks such as drawing and coloring. I would rarely leave home without a sketchbook. Around 2011 I started my journey into Adobe and Autodesk products. I quickly became affluent in the ways of Photoshop, working on various personal projects such as pixel art, memes, and goofy edited pictures of my friends. My main obsessions were character art and one-page comics. I began taking numerous art classes in high school including digital art classes that taught me more about the programs I had already grown to enjoy. My teachers would often compliment my outside of the box thinking, as well as my ability to bend the rules of each project sent my way. When given a task I would try to find the most outlandish way to put myself into my art. Being deaf and having ADHD can make paying attention to things very hard. Fortunately, when it comes to my art and design, I can truly lock in. I have no issues getting lost in my work to create full, heart felt work. It also helps to be versatile and work on multiple parts and projects at once. As I had a weird introduction to this life with my disabilities, I have often been obsessed with the strange and the macabre. I have a fascination with Avant-garde work and horror or dark themes in art, but I also have a fascination with more futuristic as well as more playful styles. Finding ways to blend different outlandish concepts is always my favorite, but I am always excited to try new styles and find new ways of implementing my style into ones that already exist. I have been told I am a good leader. I stay head strong while trying to help others navigate through obstacles. I am a definite extravert, and enjoy the company of others, getting to know those around me. While I am hard of hearing, I love listening to people and making sure I can have a great understanding of who they are. My Empathy levels are very high, and I can often match the mood of any situation I find myself in, unless the time calls for remaining calm and keeping a level head. For those looking for designs that will make them stand out and remain different from all the rest, I am happy to help them create designs that will stand the test of time and remain in the memory of all who bear witness.
